Foodie Favorites BGC Edition Part 1

Recommended by Lifestylebyabby

First of all, let me apologize for the poorly taken photos of my food. These were taken just on normal days while eating out with family and were not intended for blogging purposes. However, I realized that the foodie in me needs to share these gastronomic gems with you guys! 🙂

Here are my Top 5 FOODIE FAVORITES for this month:

Located at SM Aura, Grind Bistro does not only offer classic comfort food favorites with some dynamic twists, they also have a classy minimalist yet creative interior design that makes you want to stay longer.

Enjoy a classic burger served with some foodie flair or a classic milkshake with a surprising presentation.

My husband’s favorite, the Grind Burger (P395), is a house specialty with 100% USDA beef topped with tomato, lettuce, onion, and American cheese. Some sweetened pickles go on the side for those who prefer pickles on their burger.

My daughter’s favourite is the Spaghetti and Meatballs (P495) which has three large meatballs, parmesan fondue, pesto, and house made ricotta. It actually tastes like adult spaghetti and not the sweet kiddie spaghetti but my bub still loves it!

More than these two classic dishes, my favorite would be another classic BUT with a twist. It’s the Poke Nachos! YUMMM! This refreshing bowl of Poke Nachos (P495) has ahi tuna marinated in soy, chili, and sesame, local chevre, orange, and wasabi tobiko, pico de gallo, taro and sweet potato chips. Certainly my kind of nachos!

This place is definitely worth visiting to take a break from your daily GRIND!

Grind Bistro + Cafe is located at the Third Level, SM Aura Premier, C5 corner 26th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. Call +63-917-863-7275 for inquiries and more information.

You won’t miss Providore if you’re in SM Aura because it’s located at the busy shopping area on the ground floor. It just opened last year but it’s starting to become a family favourite.

We love their Bacon Clam Chowder (P295) which is served in a big and yummy bread bowl. Be careful ’cause it’s served really hot.

The Zucchini Pecorino Fries (P 175) can easily be one of my favourite snacks of all time because it’s not just delicious but also a healthy treat. The buttermilk ranch dip just adds a pleasant kick.

Now I couldn’t rave more about seafood rolls. I just love them so much! Seafood rolls in the flea markets in the States and Luke’s Lobster Rolls from Japan are my ultimate guilty pleasure. So when I saw the Crispy Seafood Mayo Roll (P 375) on the menu, I just had to try it. It was no Luke’s but definitely satisfied the craving. I came back for this twice already. And yes, I don’t have a photo of it because I always devour it even before I get the chance to take one. LOL 🙂

We also got to try some good Filipino dishes like the Arroz Caldo and Fresh Lumpia. Wasn’t able to take photos of those anymore.

Of course, this sweet tooth always have room for dessert. 🙂 My favourite would be the Coconut Cream Tres Leches (p 295) which speaks for itself. Super creamy and fluffy coconut cream goodness which tasted like heaven in every bite. YUM!

Those appealing desserts displayed by the entrance would immediately catch your attention so it would be difficult not to dine here after a busy shopping spree. There is also an assembly of artisan products from unique local suppliers (What? More shopping?) 🙂

Like Grind, they also serve the classic favorites but they have more variety and more Filipino dishes that can also be great for merienda. The wide array of desserts is a plus! I’m also liking the new concept of having a garden bar at the outdoor area. We have yet to try that out!

From the name itself, Tomatito truly swanks a sensual vibe from the moment you enter. The funky Spanish interior, sexy red colors, and stimulating music, were all good together. And I don’t know if I was just hallucinating but 80% of the people I saw there were indeed sexy. Haha! 🙂

Since we came here after dinner, we only tried out some tapas to compliment our glass of wine, and they did not disappoint.

Our favorites would be the Salmon TNT (P595), which was, an explosive combination of smoked salmon with honey and truffle. BOOM! And the Filete con Airbag (P325) (funny name eh?) which was, cheese and tenderloin steak air baguettes.

It’s best to come here on a Friday night with your group of sexy friends who wants to enjoy a chit-chat with a glass of wine. Cheers!

So proud that this awesome place actually originated from my home town, Alabang, as a hole in the wall wine and dine destination for authentic tapas and pintxos! I love that their new branch in BGC is bigger and better while still serving their bestsellers like their jamon alioli, boquerones, paella, patatas bravas, etc.

This is where I chose to celebrate my “birthday salubong” last weekend because of the relaxing ambiance and of course… the YUMMY FOOD and DRINKS. The place is more quiet and laidback unlike that of Tomatito’s stimulating (and a little bit noisy) atmosphere.

You’d really be eating non-stop I tell you! Everything is just so good! Here are some of my favorites:

Ternera (Wagyu tenderloin, Piquillo, Chimichurri); Jamon-Allioli (Jamon Serrano, Allioli); Salmon (Salmon, Goat Cheese, Truffle Honey, Caviar)

Boquerones Uni (Boquerones, Uni, Caviar)

Salpicao (Kitayama Tenderloin, Garlic, Olive Oil)

Brie-Cebolla (Cheese, Caramelized Onions, Jamon)

ALL GOOD. EVERYTHING GOOD. I don’t know why but everything just danced in my tastebuds perfectly.

Okay, that’s it! I’m going there tonight. Major craving.

So if I frequently visit Grind Bistro at Aura, then it’s impossible to miss its charming little neighbor, Ping Pong Diplomacy.

This new restaurant right next door opened only a few months back. It does not only have a distinctive name, it also has an eye-catching theme and design that would make you look twice and give it a try.

Props to this quirky Modern Chinese-American resto for exerting much effort and creativity with their dishes. It’s always nice to enjoy meals that seem to have undergone substantial conceptualization and preparation but are served quickly.

Just like its unique façade, the distinct flavors of ALL their dishes will satisfy the curiosity of your taste buds. Everything had robust taste and aroma. Here are some of our favorites:

We immediately got attracted to the Truffled Mushroom Edamame Dumplings (P160) from the menu because I imagined the taste of truffle and edamame combination would dance in my mouth. It was delicious for me but my hubby and brother thinks there was too much truffle oil making it too strong that they could only eat one piece each.

The Crunchy Eggplant (P140) seemed like a rather simple dish but you’d be surprised at how delectable the flavor is. It veers away from the expected texture of slimy eggplant, mainly because of its crunchy batter and really tasty sauce.

Another simple yet delicious dish would be the Wonton Cheeseburger (P290), which was very crispy wonton with tender and tasty Wagyu beef and sharp cheddar cheese. How can you say no to this?

Unfortunately I was not able to take photos of the Caveman Beef Rib (P535) and the Ping Pong Wings (P320), which were both superstars. The ribs looked amazing on plate though it seemed like it was tough to eat. Lo and behold it was actually tender and crisp at the same time with the crispy shallots giving a nice kick to it. The wings on the other hand are not your ordinary wings because they are crispier with very bold flavors of a 12-spice blend so its sweet, salty, spicy all at the same time.

For dessert but we tried the Mungo Buchi (P220), which had the super yummy red bean puree! I’m definitely trying the Fortune Balls next time.

Ping Pong Diplomacy is located at the Third Level, SM Aura Premier, C5 corner 26th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. Right beside Grind Bistro + Café. Call +632-9604271 for inquiries and more information.

Take note, these are ONLY five of the SO MANY great restaurants in BGC. I am so proud of how amazingly good Filipinos are with food. Some of these restaurants are even at par with international joints. This is definitely a foodie country!

Will share more next time, I’m starting to get hungry! 🙂
