We all went crazy over Rose Quartz last year and I think most of us haven’t really gotten over the prettiness of this subtle pink hue. Nevertheless, with 2017 bringing in a fresh start, it’s only fitting that we give the New Year’s pantone color of the year a chance right?
First let’s clarify, what is the PANTONE Color of the Year? “Pantone Color of the Year is a symbolic color selection; a color snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.”
We are not obliged to follow any rules about this Pantone prescription and it merely serves as a guide, especially for designers, in choosing the right shade. More importantly, if the color doesn’t suit your taste or the style of clothing/furniture/accessory/etc. don’t use it just for sake of being “in”.
Want to appreciate GREEN even more? Read Pantone’s description below and for sure you’ll fall in love with the color even if you hated anything green before.
“A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.
Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world.
A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.”
Reconnecting with nature and rejuvenating the body and soul are actually some of my resolutions for the year. Hence, this is the perfect shade that coincides with my goals. So, is it time to let go of Rose Quartz and embrace our green-mindedness? (Pun intended haha! 🙂) Certainly! GREEN IN DEFINITELY IN! In lieu of this, let me share with you my current FAVORITE GREENS of the month.
Top (L-R): Elizbeth Arden Green Tea Perfume; Origins Plantscription Skin Care; Bath and Body Works Mint Julep Foaming Hand Wash; Human Nature Natural Shampoo in Aloe Vera; Miniso Watermelon Nail Polish Wipes
Bottoom (L-R): Anne Klein watch; Pixi Cosmetics Glow Tonic; St. Ives Renew and Purify Body Wash; Kitkat Melon from Japan; Miniso double tip pen
Just a quick rundown of why I love these products:
- Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Perfume
I rarely use perfume. My sense of smell is very sensitive (especially when I was pregnant) and I only use perfume on special occasions. Moreover, I only have a handful of favourite scents which I use alternately. Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden is one of them. Mild scent is a must! Mild, refreshing, and natural smelling. The simple mint green packaging is also lovely.
- Origins Plantscription Skin Care (Facial Wash, Toner, and Moisturizer)
Surely you’ve heard me mention several times that I am currently testing out a lot of skin care products. I’m looking for the perfect products for my combination sensitive skin. Origins is a brand I truly trust because they don’t use harsh chemicals. Natural, non toxic, organic products have a special A+ rating on my book. I’ve been using their Rose Clay Mask and during my last visit to the store and convincing sales talk, I decided to give this a try. From the name itself, the Plantscription line uses powerful (yet all natural) anti ageing ingredients to combat fine lines, dullness, and other signs os ageing. Perfect for me! I haven’t seen dramatic results yet but I will share a more detailed review soon.
- Bath and Body Works Foaming Hand Wash in Mint Julep
I simply like the scent and foaminess. It cleaned plus keeps the hands moisturised. Best smelling hand wash ever! Period. 🙂
- Human Nature Natural Strengthening Shampoo in Aloe Vera
Since I have just recently chemically permed my hair again after 3 long years, I need to avoid even more harsh chemicals on my hair. So all natural shampoo is the way to go! This strengthening shampoo is specially made for brittle and damaged hair like mine. It’s very affordable too. #SupportLocal
- Miniso Watermelon Nail Polish Wipes
Coinciding with my recent discovery of organic nail treatments at French Tips, I have also found these unique nail polish wipes! How convenient is this??? Plus the scent is my favourite watermelon (they have other scents available) and it comes in this cute packaging!
- Anne Klein watch
This watch is from my mom. I also have it in white. I love the classic design, It’s very sleek in this slightly darker shade of green.
- Pixi Cosmetics Glow Tonic
This product looked promising. Again, natural ingredients. I loved it at first but unfortunately, it broke me out after a week. 🙁 So I’m omitting this from my favourites list 🙁
- St. Ives Renew and Purify Body Wash
For 29 years I’ve been using a generic bar soap as my staple bath product. But with all the changes y body has gone thru I decided to make some changes. Now I can’t imagine not using this body wash.
- Kitkat Melon flavour from Japan
Hoarded this yummy flavour from my latest trip to Japan. They have ALL kinds of flavours there. This is SO YUMMY! I love melon, so yeah, go figure. 🙂
- Miniso double tip pen
Another good find from Miniso! Their pen selection is actually pretty good for the price. The other tip is a brush tip and the other is a standard felt tip marker. This shade is the perfect shade of Greenery.
If you notice, there’s no lettuce or green peas here – haha! 🙂 Maybe next time I’ll add my favourite green food too.
There you have it, ladies and gents! Will share more of my favourite finds next month! In the mean time, let’s all AGREEn to stay positive and GREEn each other with smiles! Okay, that was extremely corny. 🙂
Seriously though, green is the colour for GO! Let’s take this chance to inspire ourselves and revitalise our lives especially the aspects which needs attention – whether it be health, spiritual, emotional, etc. No need to look far. Appreciate the environment you’re in and enrich it with what you know. GREEN will ALWAYS be in.
